FRANKFORT, Ky. -- State Treasurer Allison Ball continues trying to empty out Kentucky's Unclaimed Property Vault.

Ball says her office has been collecting such things as cash, safety deposit box contents, stocks, jewelry and more, since the 1940s, and is now holding about a half billion dollars.

She says a group of high school students touring her office came up with the best description of the vault, "Kentucky's lost and found".

Last year, Ball says her office returned a record 25-million dollars in unclaimed property to the owners.
