Late Night Hosts Mock Trump For Feuding With NFL Over Anthem Protests

Late night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers mocked Donald Trump for feuding with the NFL over a number of athletes kneeling during the national anthem as a form of protest against remarks made by the president. Watch the videos below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Trump said at a recent rally in Alabama that “son of a bitch” NFL players who kneel during the national anthem should be “fired.” He went on to tell the audience, “When people like yourselves turn on the television and you see those people taking the knee when they’re playing our great national anthem. The only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it’s one player, leave the stadium.” Of course, his comments were met with widespread criticism, prompting hundreds of NFL players to kneel and lock arms during the national anthem before their games last weekend.

In the wake of the protests, the late night hosts inevitably poked fun at Trump for feuding with the NFL. Fallon began his monologue on Monday night’s “Tonight Show” by saying, “We had a bunch of big football matches yesterday. You had the Eagles against the Giants, you had the Patriots against the Texans, and you had the president against everyone.”

He continued, “Trump said that NFL players shouldn’t be allowed to take a knee during the national anthem. Trump also released a list of other rule changes he thinks the NFL should make.” Fallon went on to joke, “His first rule is that someone has to get sacked every five minutes just like at the White House. Then he said, the broadcaster for every game has to be the host of ‘Fox & Friends.'”

Meanwhile, Meyers quipped on Monday’s late night show, “President Trump decided what our nation needed this past weekend was one more f*cking thing to deal with.” He added, “Trump’s unhinged rant only got worse from there when he bizarrely suggested that NFL ratings were down because people would rather watch him. That’s right, in Donald Trump’s mind, people are turning off NFL games, gathering their friends and ordering pizza to watch an out-of-shape blowhard shuffle around like he got separated from a tour group.” Watch the videos below!
