UPDATE: Device explodes at Lexington high school

WKYT is tracking an investigation of an explosion at LafayetteHigh School in Lexington on Wednesday morning.  Authorities are saying that 3 homemade devices were found at the rear of the bus lot and one of the devices went off by itself.  The other 2 were deactivated by the police.

The Lafayette Color Guard was in the parking lot practicing when the device went off. The instructor tells us the noise sounded like a huge firework.

The police and school officials are working together to investigate and say that surveillance cameras are in the area where the devices were found.

Student activities at all Fayette County Schools have been cancelled for the rest of the day
