Junk Food Should Come With Warning Labels

GETTY IMAGES

Is junk food as dangerous as cigarettes? Lots of scientists have come out agreeing with that sentiment. So should junk food then carry warning labels as well? Some health experts would agree with that too.

An Australian study out of the University of Melbourne and Cancer Council Victoria shows that the use of graphic warnings on junk foods, such as a decayed tooth or fatty heart, actually helps people to improve their diets.

The research found that "negative text combined with images was twice as effective at changing people's choices" in what foods they would pick while hungry.

Public health advocates, who now have more results to back themselves up, would like to see the government label junk foods as a way to curb obesity.

Should we label junk foods too?
