The US Border Patrol is claiming New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and his security detail violated both Mexican and US immigration laws on a recent visit to a holding facility for immigrant children near El Paso, Texas.
De Blasio, along with 20 other mayors from around the country, went to the Texas border on June 21 to protest President Trump's immigration policies.
After being denied entry to the facility, de Blasio and company allegedly crossed into Mexico and back into the US in order to get a better view.
A spokesperson for de Blasio denies the claims, saying, "Any suggestion otherwise is a flat-out lie and an obvious attempt by someone to attack the Mayor because of his advocacy for families being ripped apart at the border by the Trump Administration."
