FLORIDA FALLOUT: YouTube to BAN GUN-RELATED Videos From Platform

The popular video sharing platform YouTube officially entered the national gun control debate this week, announcing its plan to ban some videos relating to firearms and instruction guides; saying the social media giant will takedown videos that promote sites that sell guns or gun accessories.

According to Bloomberg News, the new ban includes videos relating to bump stocks, gun assembly instructions, some firearm accessories, as well as posts that link to firearms-related businesses.

“We routinely make updates and adjustments to our enforcement guidelines across all of our policies,” a YouTube spokeswoman said in a statement. “While we’ve long prohibited the sale of firearms, we recently notified creators of updates we will be making around content promoting the sale or manufacture of firearms and their accessories.”

Second Amendment advocates fired-back at the video-sharing platform immediately, calling the new policy clearly “one-sided.”

“YouTube’s newly released vague and one-sided firearms policy makes it abundantly clear that YouTube cannot be counted upon to be a safe harbor for a wide variety of views and subject matter,” InRange TV, a pro-firearms channel, wrote on its Facebook page.
