Multiple Fatalities Reported In Mass Shooting At Arkansas Grocery Store

At least two people were killed and eight others injured in a mass shooting at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, on Friday (June 21) morning. A law enforcement officer was among those shot. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

The condition of the other injured victims was not released.

Officials said that the suspected gunman was "critically wounded" after being shot by officers. Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedel noted that the situation is "contained," but the investigation is still active.

No information about the identity of the shooter or a possible motive for the attack was released.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she has been briefed on the shooting.

"I have been briefed on the tragic shooting in Fordyce, and I'm in constant contact with State Police at the scene," she wrote in a post on X. "I am thankful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. My prayers are with the victims and all those impacted by this horrific incident."
